"THE ROCK" (9th-12th grade)
CHAOS (6th-8th grade)
Summer Schedule: From June through August, we'll meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.
UPCOMING YOUTH EVENTS:
August 29 - End of Summer Party at Downs Home: 5 PM - 8 PM. Grab your families, bring a side dish or dessert, and we'll caravan from church to the Downs acreage. September 8 - Fall Kick-Off (You WON'T want to miss it!)
A LOOK BACK: Check out a few of the fun events we've had in the last year. SUMMER 2010 MISSION TRIP Dates: June 12-18, 2010 at Annville, KY A group of 10 youth and 3 leaders led a day camp for the kids of Jackson County Ministries each morning. Afternoons were spent building relationships with the Annville kids by the on-site pool. Thanks, youth, for letting God's light shine through you!
FUNDRAISING On Sunday, November 15, 13 youth and 8 adults gathered to make 560 dozen cookie dough balls! We used 56 lbs. of butter, 113 lbs. of sugar, 140 lbs. of flour, 10 dozen eggs, and 28 bags of chocolate chips. We managed to do it all in just 3 hours. This money is used to help youth pay for events such as mission trips, Dare2Share, etc. Way to go!
LOCK-IN On January 22, 14 youth and 4 adults had a great time at an Iowa Energy game, then came back to church for a fun-filled night of games, movies and laughter at a lock-in until Saturday morning. KITS FOR HAITI On January 27 we collected and assembled kits to sent to Haiti. We sent both Hygiene and Baby Care Kits. It was fun to have the privilege of making a global impact for God's Kingdom!
GET TO KNOW YOUR LEADERS Danny, Rachel, Danish, and Abby completed "Get To Know You" Questionnaires. Below are a few excerpts to introduce you to the youth leaders. Full questionnaires are posted in Chaos and The Rock rooms. Danny Ritchart What is your favorite food? Pizza, steak, and pizza....Did I mention pizza? What hobbies do you have? Watching movies, bowling, hanging out with friends, and going on vacation with Rachel, my wife. If you could have invented anything, what would it be? I wish I had invented the pizza oven. Because then I would have been in on the ground floor of Americans and one of my favorite foods. What is your favorite Bible verse? Why? Philippians 4:13 is my favorite verse because it reminds me that "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength." Rachel Ritchart What is your favorite movie or book? Legally Blonde (1 and 2) because the movies show that you can do anything you put your mind to - And who couldn't like Elle Woods and Bruiser? What are your goals? My goal is to live life each day the best I can and to do my best to love everyone I meet. And when I get up in the morning, I want the devil to say "Darn it! She's up again!" Who is your hero? My mom. She loves me unconditionally and has always been there when I've needed her. She's a woman of faith and lives the word of God everyday. What is your favorite Bible verse? Why? My favorite Bible verses are Exodus 14:13-14. I like these verses because in Exodus Moses is helping free the slaves from the Egyptians. He tells the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still." It's just like in our lives - Jesus died for our sins so we don't have to think about them anymore. We are free from our sins if we just repent and believe and trust in Him. John (Danish) Schwechel What is your favorite food? My mom's Swiss Steak and Dumplings!! What is your favorite movie or book? I don't know if I have a favorite. I like so many and so many different kinds. Favorite recent book, "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist." What are your goals? To see my kids happy, healthy, successful, and hopefully walking with Christ. Otherwise, to someday be able to retire What is your favorite Bible verse? Why? Probably Psalm 23. We are studying that now in one of my Community Groups and it has become a lot more meaningful to me. Again, a lot to choose from. Abby Laman What is your favorite food? Pizza - Especially Happy Joe's Canadian Bacon! What hobbies do you have? Scrapbooking, bow making, and playing with my three adorable little girls. Who is your hero? Why? Anyone who serves God daily - Whether it's in the world's mission field, or our own little mission field at home What is your favorite Bible Verse? Why? "Help me then, Lord, not to be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, present my requests to you. And your peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7) It's a good daily reminder to give everything over to God, who will give us peace.
